Ollywood or ODIA CINEMA industry of Orissa / Odisha is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee at the age of 75 this Year.

We are proud of ODIA CINEMA industry, which is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee at the age 75 years. Odia Cinema forwarded its first step in 1934 - 1936 directly with a talkie film not experiencing with silent moviee of that time. The first Odia talkie film Sita Bibaha was made by Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami in 1936 based on the story of the great Indian epic Ramayana witch contents  the story of marriage of Sita with Ram. The topic was from a drama written by Kamala Mishra. The Talkie was prepared with a budget of Rs 30,000, only where the 12-reeled film was equiped with 14 song sequences and was released by Laksmi Talkies. The Film had in its cast line Makhanlal Banerjee who was acting as Ram was paid Rs 120 only for his performance, Aditya Ballav Mohanty ( in role of Lakhsman) who got only Rs 35 as conveyance allowance and Prabati Devi (Sita) who was paid the highest amount of Rs 150 only for her work was the landmark Odia film Industry.

The scenario has changed, we have now old and matured film industry with great artists and performers. The history of Odia cinema is enriched by a pleothra of genius people, great actors, actresses, singers and musicians. All were great in their wing. We thank and pay our homage to all our actors, directors, producers of Odia film industry for getting this industry up to this level.
